*Historical Recap:*
The USS Lamson (DD-367) was a Mahan-class destroyer of the United States Navy, launched in 1935 and commissioned in 1936. Named after Rear Admiral Roswell Hawkes Lamson, the ship saw extensive service during World War II, primarily in the Pacific Theater.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Lamson was assigned to escort, patrol, and amphibious support missions. She took part in key campaigns such as Guadalcanal, the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and the Philippines, providing convoy protection, naval gunfire support, and anti-aircraft defense. Her role was essential in securing supply routes and supporting Allied landings on strategic islands.

On April 30, 1945, while operating near Mindanao, Philippines, Lamson was struck by a kamikaze attack, suffering severe damage and heavy casualties. Despite the impact, the ship remained afloat thanks to determined damage-control efforts and was later withdrawn from combat.

Deemed beyond economical repair, the USS Lamson was sunk as a target on June 16, 1945, near the Philippines. Today, her remains rest on the seafloor as part of the world’s naval heritage, honoring the sacrifice of her crew and the intense naval warfare of the Pacific during World War II.
