Deep in southern Thailand lies a sinkhole that drops over 200 meters into the earth… and no one truly knows how far it goes.
In this episode of DiveSAGA, we explore the mysterious Song Hong sinkhole—an unassuming pool on the surface that hides a vast, vertical abyss below. With depths exceeding 200 meters, this is one of Thailand’s most extreme and least understood dive sites.
But this dive is about more than depth.
Across Southeast Asia, ancient beliefs speak of the Naga—a serpent-like guardian said to inhabit rivers, caves, and underground worlds. In Buddhist tradition, the Gautama Buddha himself was once protected by a Naga rising from beneath the earth.
As we descend into the darkness of Song Hong, that idea begins to feel less like myth… and more like a way to understand places that humans were never meant to fully explore.
