Catching the sunrise boat from Chioggia is such fun. Chioggia is a decent journey away from Venice, but sometimes the travel is part of the holiday. That is so true as Venice Route 11 takes you by boat and bus from the southern tip of the Venice Lagoon all the way up the islands of Pellestrina and Venice Lido. After that there's one more boat ride from the Lido over to the railway station.
It's a remarkable journey that will live long in my memory.
