El Nido is famous for its island-hopping tours, but with the crowds that come with the classic A, B, C, and D tours, we decided to try something different. Instead of the packed boats and busy lagoons, we set out to arrange a private island-hopping tour in Sibaltan, on the opposite side of the island.
Our adventure starts with breakfast at a small local restaurant, where we manage to book a boat through a friend of the owner. After a few hiccups—including a last-minute engine replacement—we finally set off for a day of exploring untouched islands with no other tourists in sight.
The first stop brings us to crystal-clear waters teeming with fish and vibrant coral reefs, perfect for snorkeling. Getting back in the boat, however, proves to be more of a challenge than expected (turns out, upper body strength is important). Our second stop is a secluded beach, where we relax, swim, and fly the drone to capture some stunning views.
With the blazing sun beating down, we decide to skip a third stop and just soak in the peacefulness of the beach before heading back. By the time we return, we’re sunburnt but completely satisfied with our decision to explore this side of the island instead of the usual tours. We wrap up the day with dinner at the same spot that arranged our boat, watching one of the most stunning sunsets we’ve ever seen.
Join us for this off-the-beaten-path island adventure, and let us know—would you choose the classic El Nido tours or a more private experience like this? Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more travel stories!
